Description
For years, Ukrainian soldiers traveled to Western training grounds to learn from NATO militaries. At Sweden's largest military exercise, Aurora 26, the roles were reversed.
In May 2026, more than 18,000 troops from 13 countries gathered across Sweden and the Baltic Sea for Exercise Aurora 26. Among them were Ukrainian drone operators and military personnel who shared battlefield experience gained during more than four years of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Ukrainian soldiers demonstrated how modern warfare has evolved in the fields of drone warfare and counter-drone operations.
UNITED24 Media traveled to Sweden to document part of the exercise and speak with Ukrainian and Swedish military personnel about their experiences.
