US Central Command said it had begun "additional self-defense strikes" against targets including military surveillance systems, air defense sites and communication systems that posed a threat to US forces and international commercial ships. The attacks followed strikes on Tuesday in retaliation for the downing of a US Apache helicopter and underscored Trump's growing impatience that the two sides have so far failed to reach an agreement.
