Japan’s New HTV-X1 Cargo Spacecraft Meets the ISS | First Flight of HTV-X Series | Filmed in 4K

The HTV-X1 cargo spacecraft from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) for the first time, marking the first flight of the new HTV-X series. HTV-X1 serves as a technical demonstration mission for Japan’s next-generation uncrewed expendable cargo spacecraft, capable of delivering up to 13,200 pounds (6,000 kg) to low Earth orbit. On this mission, HTV-X1 transported around 9,000 pounds (4,080 kg) of food and supplies for the ISS crew. Captured by the Canadarm2 robotic arm, operated by NASA astronaut Zena Cardman and JAXA astronaut Kimiya Yui, HTV-X1 joins an international fleet of cargo vehicles supporting the ISS — including Russia’s Progress, Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus, and SpaceX’s Dragon.
