Two songs, one invitation: come. Not come cleaned, come as you are, come and be changed, come to be perfected. The altar does not demand preparation; it provides it. The Father does not inspect the guest; He embraces the child. And no one who comes leaves the same. 📝 Come As You Are ✏️ The gospel begins with invitation, not interrogation. 🎤 "Come as you are, you'll not stay the same…" 📖 Matthew 11:28–30 NIV "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." ➡️ The rest is immediate; the transformation is inevitable. 📝 Not By What We Have Done ✏️ The altar receives no currency but grace. 🎤 "We come not by what we have done, we live by faith in God's Son…" 📖 Ephesians 2:8–9 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." ➡️ The Divine exchange, God's gift of Eternal life, salvation by grace through faith, and we lay our lives our whole selves upon the altar of surrender and sacrifice. 📝 O Come To The Altar ✏️ The wounded find the Healer; the burdened find the Burden-Bearer. 🎤 "O come to the altar, the Father's arms are open wide…" 📖 Luke 15:20 "So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him." ➡️ The Father's arms are open before the confession is spoken. 📝 New Life, Transformed and Changed ✏️ The altar is the womb of the twice-born. 🎤 "New life in Jesus, transformed and changed…" 📖 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!" ➡️ The transformation is not a patch-up, band aid job; it is total re-creation. 📝 Fly High, Rise Above ✏️ The Spirit's power lifts beyond the storm. 🎤 "Fly high like the eagle, you'll rise above…" 📖 Isaiah 40:31 "But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." ➡️ The wings are given; the soaring is promised; the waiting is the work. 📝 Eyes Fixed, Running to Win ✏️ The altar is the starting line, not the finish. 🎤 "We run as if to win, leaving our past life of sin…" 📖 Hebrews 12:1–2 "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith." ➡️ The race is run glancing backward only to see how far we have come from what God rescued us from, we look forward to the crown. 📝 Beloved: Stop polishing your résumé for the altar. The Father's arms are already open. Come with your weariness, your burden, your sin that so easily entangles. Come as you are—because you cannot come as you wish to be, and you need not come as you once were. The altar transforms. The embrace changes. The eagle rises. And the race begins not with your strength, but with His. Come. Now. As you are. 🙏 Father of mercies We come to Your altar not by what we have done, but by what Your Son has done for us. Thank You that Your arms are open wide before we speak, that Your Spirit empowers us to rise, that Your grace transforms us to run. Fix our eyes on Jesus, the author of new life. We come as we are; we will not stay the same.
