Australia backs peace efforts after Pakistan-mediated Iran–US breakthrough

Foreign Minister Penny Wong has released a statement welcoming US President Donald Trump's peace deal with Iran and Pakistan. “We welcome President Trump and Pakistan’s announcement of an agreement including to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Australia has long called for de-escalation and an end to the conflict, including in Lebanon,” Ms Wong said. “As we have said, the longer this war goes on, the greater the impact will be.”
