China’s NPC set to review 15th Five-Year Plan as growth target expected

Attention is turning to China’s National People’s Congress (NPC), which opens in Beijing this week and is expected to review and approve the country’s 15th Five-Year Plan. Premier Li Qiang is set to announce China’s annual GDP growth target, while lawmakers will deliberate on the new economic blueprint that will guide development in the coming years. NPC spokesperson Lou Qinjian said key priorities include boosting domestic demand and consumption, as well as new legislation covering social assistance, medical security and childcare services aimed at improving living standards.
