Description
In this time-lapse zoom deep into the sun's surface. Focused on Active Region 4420, we see several Solar Flares erupting including two Solar Flare Ribbons.
Both light and radio waves are part of the electromagnetic spectrum and travel at the speed of light. In this video, you can see the flare in H-alpha light and hear its radio emission, synchronized as both are coming from the same solar event. A radio receiver converts the radio waves into audio, allowing us to “hear” the Sun.

📡Radio instruments used:
• Radio JOVE Single Dipole (20.1 MHz)
• Single Dipole (40 MHz)
• SuperSID Monitor (VLF 15–25 kHz)
Radio JOVE detects solar radio bursts from flares, while SuperSID monitors changes in Earth’s ionosphere caused by those flares.
⏱️ Timelapse sped up 250× — hours of solar activity in minutes.
