King and Queen WILL travel to the White House to meet Trump as Palace CONFIRMS April state visit

King Charles and Queen Camilla's controversial state visit to the US where they will meet US president Donald Trump will go-ahead, Buckingham Palace has announced. It has been confirmed that the royal couple will visit the United States next month on advice of the government and at the invitation of the president, who said the trip would be a 'momentous occasion'. Charles has also been asked to address both houses of the US Congress, the first time a British monarch has done so in over 30 years. Queen Elizabeth II was the last British monarch to speak in Washington DC in 1991, during a 12-day state visit as a guest of President George HW Bush.
