Description

What a HUNT ! We hunted free-range wild deer on foot, stalking in the beautiful mountains of NSW. Enjoy this self-filmed footage as I attempt to drag you along for the ride. This video is the last part #3 of two weeks of hunting. This will fold into a film length upload. I've been very fortunate to gain access in an area like this with a good mate who wishes to remain unnamed (huge thanks to bucket). This trip we have paired up for some EPIC buck hunting action chasing these dynamic animals in the rut. Solo filming this type of content is a huge challenge, if you would like to additionally support me here is the link to my Patreon. You will gain early access to the video's and all are posted free of advertising. Plus this is the path if you wish for more personal engagement and to chat about gear directly. https://www.patreon.com/user?u=37396112 Experiencing the fallow buck and red stag rut is something every hunter should try to do. They are amped up, croaking for dominance, stinky and keen for a fight. It's often extremely fast paced hunting of what is normally an elusive, shy animal. For better or worse we are a little early in this initial part of the rut with animals not in full swing, but that will come. The deer taken are free-range wild animals on private property. This is an experience I try to do each year as the hunting is amazing, and something unique to cherish. It's much different to the regular bulk pest control shooting I normally do for work. Understand that this is a recreational activity, and the deer are a game resource on this property. While we did harvest some prime venison cuts, eating rutty bucks is not hugely to my taste. I have access to take much better animals specifically for the family table to consume, which we regularly eat. I understand that doesn't gel with everyone, but I am in this fortunate situation, and happy to own my choices with meat taken in the rut (or lack of). If people have an issue with this, that is your own. Currently this entire area is under aerial cull, everything is shot by the thousands and just left to rot. That's pest control for better or worse of a species with no tags, no restrictions and extremely high numbers. These deer are not native in Australia and it's open season. My custom rifle used in this video is chambered in 308Win rifle. Action is a Defiance Machine Tenacity, Triggertech Special trigger, 18 inch Carbon Six Barrel, all in an MDT HTN26 Carbon Fibre Chassis. I'm running Fiocchi ammunition with 150 grain EPN rounds (Hornady SST projectiles) which as you can see, hammered the deer. Daylight scope, I'm using an old Kahles AH 3-9x42mm I've had for years.
