Description

NIA Headquarters, Diliman, Quezon City February 24, 2026 Demonstrating the Administration’s commitment to strengthening irrigation development, advancing agricultural productivity and promoting the welfare of Filipino farmers, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. attends the 2026 National Irrigation Administration (NIA) – National Confederation of Irrigators Associations (NCIA) General Assembly at the NIA Headquarters in Diliman, Quezon City on February 24, 2026. Established on 13 October 1997, the NCIA, Inc. is a non-profit, non-stock association registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Its primary objective is to represent the interests of irrigation farmers in policy-making bodies and to collaborate closely with government and partner institutions to advance sustainable irrigation development and management. It also promotes programs that strengthen Irrigators Associations (IAs), improve farm productivity, and support initiatives aimed at enhancing farmers’ livelihoods and contributing to food security. This year’s General Assembly aims to strengthen collaboration with national and international organizations to promote the interests and welfare of IAs, build partnerships with government and non-government organizations (NGOs) to support agriculture and other services for increased farm productivity, and act as a channel for technical and financial assistance to further growth and development among IAs, among other goals. During the program, the President engages with participating IA representatives in an open forum, where they present their priority concerns and recommendations.
