Description
► This is a deadly sport… someone died in the UK from a jousting-incident less than 10 years ago.
If you’re a bit over eggs and the hunt thereof this Easter… this might be of interest to you.
It’s dangerous. Performed on horseback. And as brutal as the Middle Ages.
Jousting.
Yes, the sport of knights and lances, is still popular – enjoying a revival, even - and this weekend brave participants will climb in the saddle for an international tournament in Leeds.
Lovers of the sport want it at the Olympics, but there’s a hurdle to overcome – it can be fatal. In 2007, Paul Allen, a 54-year-old man, died after a splinter from a wooden lance penetrated his eye and brain during a Channel 4 re-enactment of a medieval jousting tournament.
