Chimpanzee Excitement Increases As Lunch Time Feast Approaches !

In the minutes before lunch the chimps excitement for feeding time increases, resulting in them gathering as a group and pacing the island, moving indoors and outdoors and being sure to avoid conflict with the hungriest chimp - alpha Carlos ! Infant Chimpanzee Jeff joins in in the excitement - performing his own cute little displays and hoots of excitement ! He chooses to ride on mom Zeezee's back so he can get a good look out view of the impending meal! For the Chester Zoo chimpanzee group this is the most important part of the day - as they prepare to win and secure their food bounty ! Fortunately the keepers make sure that all the chimps get their share of food and there is often unclaimed food items undiscovered around the island, under bushes and even in the water moat, easy pickings fort the slower chimps who wait for the hungry alphas and young females to get their food. Feeding the chimps like this promotes natural foraging behaviours.
