Description

In late 2018, Manaaki Whenua staff, DOC staff, and volunteer community members released 67 grand (Oligosoma grande) and Otago (Oligosoma otagense) skinks into Mokomoko Dryland Sanctuary, joining 86 jewelled geckos already translocated. Both the released species are endemic to Otago The skinks like to live in rocky areas with plenty of cracks to protect them from extremes of heat and cold, so release sites were carefully selected for optimal skink suitability. Filmed by Bradley White for Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research. Shot on the Fujifilm X-H1. www.landcareresearch.co.nz
