MARDAANI 3's MALLIKA PRASAD SINHA AKA Amma Gets Candid With Filmfare: Rani Mukerji, YRF & Acting

In an exclusive interview with Filmfare, Mardaani 3 actress Mallika Prasad Sinha opened up about landing the powerful role of Amma in the YRF thriller. She revealed that the casting director discovered her and approached her for the character, which eventually turned out to be the film’s main antagonist. Talking about playing Amma, Mallika shared that she did not find the role particularly challenging. According to her, an actor’s job is to step into any character — no matter how layered or complex — and perform it convincingly. She believes that taking on difficult roles is part of the craft. During the conversation, she also spoke warmly about her experience of sharing the screen with Rani Mukerji. Mallika recalled that Rani greeted her with great warmth on set and told her three memorable things - “Welcome to the franchise,” “Everybody loves you here,” and “Our eyes are similar.” Interestingly, Mallika revealed that she and Rani did not shoot most of their scenes together. Despite this, the final output on screen looks seamless and impactful, leaving no hint of separate shoots. She added that their interaction on set was limited, yet the intensity of their characters translated strongly on screen. Mallika also mentioned that she instantly knew Amma would be an exciting and engaging character to portray. She thoroughly enjoyed playing the role and described the experience as creatively fulfilling. Although Amma is a dark character, Mallika said it did not affect her mentally. She believes that as an actor, one must maintain emotional distance from their roles and not carry the darkness back home. Mallika Prasad Sinha was recently seen in YRF’s Mardaani 3 as Amma, a powerful and ruthless antagonist. In the film, she plays the leader of a child trafficking racket, standing as a strong opponent to ACP Shivani Shivaji Roy, portrayed by Rani Mukerji.
