Description

About this Presentation Heart failure is a growing health challenge in Canada, with over 800,000 people are currently living with the condition, and more than 130,000 new diagnoses each year. Heart failure places a significant burden on individuals, families, caregivers, and the healthcare system, and is the third leading cause of hospitalization in the country. Aligned with Heart Failure Awareness Week (May 3rd–9th, 2026), this webinar aimed to provide healthcare workers, people with lived experience, and caregivers with essential knowledge to recognize heart failure signs and symptoms, understand key risk factors, and appreciate how heart failure interacts with other conditions. The webinar provided a practical overview of the role of guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT), including how evidence-based medications improve survival, reduce hospitalizations, and enhance quality of life. The presentation highlighted efforts across Canada to bridge unified heart failure care and bring awareness for those living with this increasingly common condition. The information is intended for use by healthcare professionals for reference and education only and is not intended to be a substitute for a physician's advice, diagnosis or treatment. You should consult your physician for personal health matters. Viewers are invited to participate in the webinar survey https://www.surveymonkey.ca/r/FXW3LYV to provide valuable feedback, and to receive their Certificate of Participation. Please note that this survey and the Certificate of Participation expire one year after the official webinar date.
