Awaken, and Survive... Dune Awakening (First base and trade post)

Winding it back to last year when there was a free weekend for Dune Awakening. Friends of mine had been excited about the release, and I am mildly fascinated by the Dune setting, though not an avid fan - and I think the more of a fan you are, the more of the game and its lore you will appreciate. Many of the references in the prologue and tutorial were lost on me, with the usual sci-fi reliance on complicated names and reality-adjacent terms feeling a bit heavy handed for just starting to get into the universe. Very elaborate wrapping around an opening to the game that essentially distils down to "crash landed on a desert planet" which is something I am pretty familiar with by now! I'm sure as you get further into the game the combat may open up more, but it certainly feels rather numb to begin with, and the infinitely respawning resources and enemies somewhat removes any real tension about the setting and the trials of survival... can't help but feel the concept would have been better served as a single player title with more scarcity rather than an attempt at an MMO-lite.
