Description
I’ve got to do something about this….
This porch is a tripping hazard because the parking lot is too low.
So, I called one of my friends that owns a dump truck.
He got me a load of gravel and parked his truck at the building.
This way I could wait till Saturday morning to do the work- I didn’t want parked cars in the way.
I’ve never actually dumped a dump truck before, so this was fun.
The only bad thing is- now I kind of want a dump truck.
This is 12 tons of 21A- this is the material that you put down before paving and it packs really nice.
I started by dumping stone at the edges of the porch and then slowly backing away- 21A is easy to spread.
Up close around the concrete I used a rake so I wouldn’t accidentally damage the concrete with the skid steer.
I want the grade to gently slope away from the building so it’s not too steep and the water will still run away.
Finally, I went over everything with the roller.
Most people don’t realize it, but these drums actually vibrate- this helps to compact the stone.
I’m really happy with how this turned out- I think it makes the whole building look better. @hausplans
