Description
Explore Mumbai with me as I stumble upon a hidden architectural and culinary treasure—Kotachiwadi in Girgaon.
Walking through these cobblestone streets feels like being transported to Old Goa or Lisbon. But the real magic happened when we entered Naik's, a family-run spot preserving the authentic Gomantak and Marathi food heritage of Mumbai.
From the legendary Bombil Fry — shallow fried to perfection with a secret 20-spice blend — to the most refreshing, spicy Solkadi I’ve ever had, every bite was an emotion.
We had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful Naik family behind this beautiful place — Darshana Naik and Rajesh Naik, the owners of Naik’s, along with their daughter Bhoomi Naik, son Yash Naik, and daughter-in-law Dr. Manasi Telang Naik.
And a very special mention to Vijay Mogarkar, the Main Chef, who has been cooking up magic since 1980. His hands carry years of experience, tradition, and taste — and you can feel that in every bite.
Whether it’s the Chicken Curry, Mutton Curry, fresh Rawas, Jawla Fry, Bombil Fry or the comforting Zhunka Bhakar, the food here isn't just a meal—it’s a journey through time.
