With naturalization nearly done, Elizabeth Means 'so excited' to finally represent PH | ABS-CBN News

CEBU CITY -- Elizabeth Means is looking forward to finally putting on a Philippine jersey as her naturalization process nears its completion. The Philippine Senate approved on third and final reading last March separate bills granting citizenship to Means and former University of the Philippines standout Malick Diouf. Both players are expected to beef up the country's 3x3 basketball programs. Means has already been competing with local teams and this weekend, she is playing in the inaugural edition of Cebu Hustle 3x3 with Camille Clarin, Camille Malagar, and Trina Guytingco. They went 2-0 in pool play on Saturday at SM Seaside City. "Oh my gosh, it has been a process, and I'm so excited," said Means, who played collegiate basketball for Westminster University in Division 2, and traces her Filipino ancestry to Naga City in Camarines Sur. "We're almost there. I'm just waiting on my passport, but we're in the last steps, and I cannot wait to have it, finalize it," she added. Means is excited to finally have her passport and represent the Philippines in international stages -- including possibly the Asian Games and the FIBA Women's Series. In the meantime, she and the rest of the Pilipinas Aguilas are gearing up for Sunday's knockout phase. They will be up against the winner of the play-in game between UP Cebu and Tol Patriots. "I think 3x3 tournaments are all about growing and getting better every game, and kinda warming up throughout the tournament, and I think we did that in each game," said Means. "We're excited to play some more competitive games tomorrow."
