Description
Guilt and shame are not the same thing.
Guilt is connected to what we do. If we lie, hurt someone, or act against love, guilt can signal that something needs to be repaired. In that way, guilt can guide us back toward honesty, responsibility, and healthier connection.
Shame goes deeper. Shame is not about what we did, it becomes about who we believe we are.
That difference matters. Guilt can be resolved. Shame often needs healing.
You are not the shame you were handed. With the right support, you can begin to separate what happened from who you are, and move toward healing.
This is a throwback to my conversation with @TheoVon back in 2024. This was an incredible conversation, and something everyone needs to hear if they identify with Theo.
