Surviving Odisha Petrol Crisis in Extreme Heat 🌡️🥵

This episode covers one of the most physically and mechanically demanding stretches of the Odisha journey. The route started in Jeypore city and headed deep into the Malkangiri district. Almost immediately, the trip was hit by a brutal regional heatwave, colliding directly with a severe local petrol crisis. Traveling through Malkangiri became entirely about resource management. The heat was relentless, and the supply chain failure meant dealing with endless queues at barricaded, empty petrol pumps. Navigating this area meant relying on black-market fuel just to keep the Himalayan running while trying to avoid heat exhaustion on the road. Given the deteriorating conditions and lack of reliable fuel, the decision was made to turn back and head toward Koraput. However, the extreme heat and constant wear from the road took a toll on the bike. While en route back to Koraput, the Himalayan’s clutch wire snapped, causing a complete mechanical breakdown in a highly vulnerable spot. After managing the breakdown and securing the bike to get moving again, the final leg of this chaotic segment required pushing through the exhaustion and eventually ending up in Rayagada. This is an unfiltered, ground-level look at what happens when extreme weather, infrastructure failure, and mechanical issues hit simultaneously.
