Description

An audio clip of a 2002 Starburst Squirts TV advert from Australia. I remember this advert. In the advert, a woman at a swimming pool offers a young man a Starburst Squirt. The young man eats a Starburst Squirt which causes green goo to squirt out and inadvertently splatter on the face of a man who is cooking a barbacue. This causes him to throw one of the barbecue grill stones into the air landing in a tennis ball machine in a tennis court next door. The tennis ball machine shoots flaming tennis balls at a man playing tennis. One of the flaming tennis balls sets the man's wife's red dress on fire. 3 of the flaming tennis balls flies toward a firework and a gunpowder truck. The 2 truck drivers see the 3 flaming tennis balls and they scream in horror as the 3 flaming tennis balls hit the 2 trucks causing both trucks to explode. The Starburst Squirts TV advert was hilariously brilliant and played for chaotic comedic effect. I remember the Starbust Squirts. They were juicy, gooey and delicious. They look like the kind of sweets Willy Wonka from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory would have invented and something The Doctor from Doctor Who would eat. I liked the Starburst Squirts and the Starburst Jelly Babies. The Starburst Jelly Babies were as good as Bassett's Jelly Babies and Haribo Jelly Babies. I thought the Starburst Squirts really did squirt out the liquid centers when you chewed them like in the advert. They were called Starbursts after all. I was surprised when I ate one for the first time and it didn't squirt. It is a shame Starburst Squirts are not in shops and supermarkets anymore as they were discontinued years ago. The advert was funny and it's a shame there is no behind the scenes footage online and I would have liked to have seen how the advert was made. It's obvious practical goo was made up and used in the advert. Although the advert is played for laughs, the advert particularly the squrting goo subtly references ejaculation and it gives that vibe. The Starburst Squirts advert is a advert with physical slapstick comedy that was hilariously played for laughs and is surreal and it was Australian TV advertising at it's very best.
