MAYAK EGGS
Ingredients:
6pcs large eggs at room temperature
For garnish:
Chopped green onions
seaweed flakes
Sesame seeds
Chopped chilis
For the marinade:
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup water
1-2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
1 spring onions, chopped
3 cloves garlic minced
1-2 chilis, chopped
1 tbsp sesame seeds
Procedure:
1. In a pot, boil water then gently place each egg into the water. Simmer for 6-7 minutes (or 10 minutes for hard-boiled eggs). Prepare a large bowl of ice water.
2. When the timer goes off, immediately transfer the eggs to the ice water bath. Allow the eggs to cool completely, for at least 5 minutes.
3. In a bowl or a container, add the marinade ingredients and mix to combine, taste and adjust according to preference.
4. Gently peel the eggs and add them to the marinade. Cover tightly and store in the refrigerator for at least an hour or better, overnight.
5. To serve, place the egg over a bed of rice and garnish with green onion, seaweed flakes, sesame seeds, and chopped chili and pour over some sauce! These eggs serve as an excellent garnish over a bowl of noodles as well.
