US Central Command launched 49 Tomahawk cruise missiles at Iranian military targets on June 11, in strikes it described as self-defense. CENTCOM released footage of the missiles being fired from the USS Michael Murphy, an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, targeting Iranian surveillance, communication, radar, and air defense sites. President Trump confirmed the operation on Fox News and warned Iran would be hit extremely hard without a deal. But despite America's firepower, Iran is fighting an asymmetric war, launching cheap drones that force the use of far more expensive interceptors and turn even successful defenses into a costly equation. The IRGC said it struck as many as 18 US-linked sites across Kuwait, Bahrain, and Iraq in retaliation.
