With a resounding whistle, we set off from the Lisbon pier, wading slowly westward along the azure waters of the Tagus River. Waterbirds soared, waves splashed, and various boats drew vivid patterns on the surface. Looking around, the banks unfolded like a scroll painting: on the right bank lay Lisbon's undulating old town, its red rooftops swaying gently in the warm sun, whispering fado tunes and recounting poignant tales; in the distance, the Monument to the Discoveries (Padrão dos Descobrimentos) and the Belém Tower (Torre de Belém), overlooking the cape, seemed to tell of the romantic dreams and immortal achievements of the pioneers of the Age of Exploration, reflected in the shimmering water; the setting sun shone on the magnificent 25 April Bridge, its red steel frame appearing to play the strings of an industrial marvel; on the left bank, the Christ the Redeemer statue atop the hill stretched out its arms, guarding this tranquil bay, protecting all ships that set sail and ensuring the safe return of all those who ventured out to sea! 🙏🙏
