Description
This time, brother Sarath's mushroom harvest has been very successful, with a harvest of a new pink variety of mushrooms. These pink mushrooms are new to us, and dear brother Sarath had been sending repeated messages through his sister informing us about the pink mushroom harvest. He wanted us to come and take some of the best mushrooms before he reaped the full harvest. Anyway, I used to remember that brother Sarath and his family were always very close and attached to our family. They really respect and love my grandmother very much.
Even though his invitation was well respected and accepted by me, and yet I was reluctant to go and collect the first harvest of the mushrooms, as he is growing these mushrooms for his personal and commercial purposes as well. After waiting for a couple of days for him to reap the first batch of the pink mushrooms, I visited his mushroom farm.
When it comes to brother Sarath's mushroom farm and his methods of growing mushrooms are completely different and have a speciality of growing mushrooms compared to other normal mushroom farmers. Mushroom cultivating needs very special care and careful attention to get a very successful and perfect harvest. Brother Sarath and his Sister take such care and extra precaution in every aspect of mushroom cultivation. When they enter the cultivation farm, they take extra care to prevent other bacteria and pesticides from entering the farm from the outside environment. They act with such dedication and commitment to this farm.
The sister who is working at the mushroom farm has already kept my share of the pink mushrooms separately. When I was tasting a mushroom curry from such fresh mushrooms, I remembered the similar delicious taste from those wild mushrooms that were grown under the piles of hay in our rice fields.
People believe that during the rainy season, mushrooms start to sprout from seven different places on the ground. I can remember picking up a few mushrooms from a few places when we were tiny trots and going and giving them to our grandmother. I still have those memories of Such deliciousness in her simple dishes, only with rice and mushroom curry that was cooked by her, those days. Even today, the curries that are made either by me or my brother are very much similar to the same goodness and taste of my grandmother's dishes that were cooked by her in the golden olden days. Our grandmothers' perfect touch and the accurate quantity of adding the perfect pinch of salt from the coconut shell salt vessel, and that squeeze of the dash of lime in such a large number of curries that she used to cook for so many events and ceremonies were impeccable. Grandmother used to cook this perfect and delicious food for a large number of people who worked in the harvesting of our rice fields, for people who plucked coconuts during the coconut plucking seasons, many religious ceremonies and ' dansal'( providing free food during wesak full moon day and during other religious events) were countless.
Not a single curry dish was given or served to anyone or any event without the final inspection and taste test of our grandmother. Even today, in these modern days, I make sure to cook all the dishes according to the impeccable standards and tastes of my grandmother. But presently, many of those delicious culinary secrets are known not only by me and my brother. Now you also know these unforgettable culinary tastes, because of your frequent visits to our home sweet home for more than six years.
Love you all,
Nadee 💛💛
