Description

An American fighter jet has been shot down over Iran, sparking a major search and rescue operation by US forces inside the country. Iran has issued a reward for capture of a missing crew member. What's believed to be an F-15 Strike Eagle went down in the south-west of Iran. It's understood that the pilot has been rescued by US forces, but the fate of the second member of the jet's aircrew is not yet clear.   Iranian state television has been showing pictures of what it says is debris from the jet - and has broadcast an offer of a reward for anyone who captures the downed US crew member alive.   President Trump has been briefed on the situation. There are reports a second jet - an A-10 Warthog - crashed after coming under fire - while assisting in the first rescue. The pilot ejected to safety.
