Description
I got a good start, and so did Phillips from behind. Nothing serious, but he flew across the front of me and I rolled the throttle losing a few places. He had an average weekend until this race, so he can have that one. After the start, I ended up behind Phillips and Richardson who were battling for 3rd in Standard Twins. Initially, and based on previous races, the pace felt ok to stay behind. I think Richardson had lost rear grip, and the pace dropped. With the weekend agenda being "no drama", I wanted to be safe getting past and it maybe took longer than was ideal. Arnold and Bennie had been catching us in this time. As soon as I got past I thought I could pull away, but my rear tyre said no, and had no grip on the right hand side, leaving me a sitting duck. Combined with my broken foot being 4 races into a weekend, this 10 lap race was going to be a long one. I didn't defend too hard, I was happy to race but I knew I couldn't do much. Arnold made his move to take my 4th place in Supertwins, fair play, after Donington he deserved a good weekend. I had nothing to respond with, and then suddenly a Louisa Bennie appeared after struggling in previous races. Taking a tighter line into the corkscrew Bennie was a bit slower, and I carried a bit more speed around the outside.
