Description

Namaste Dosto! 🙏 Welcome back to another crazy travel day in Bhutan! 🇧🇹 Our journey started early morning in the beautiful Phobjikha Valley. Since we didn't have a car, we hitchhiked our way to Lawala Pass and then took a local bus to reach the historic city of Punakha. We spent the entire day exploring Punakha’s most famous spots before heading to the capital, Thimphu, late at night. But one place we visited today left us completely SHOCKED! 😳 ⛩️ CHIMI LHAKHANG (The Temple of "Divine Madman") We visited the famous Chimi Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to the "Divine Madman" (Lama Drukpa Kunley). The Village: To reach the temple, we walked through Sopsokha Village, where every single house has "Unique Paintings" and symbols on the walls. It’s a very bold and ancient tradition here! The Ritual: The blessing ritual involves a wooden bow and arrow and a very unusual wooden artifact. You have to watch the video to believe it! 🌉 PUNAKHA SUSPENSION BRIDGE We also dared to walk on one of the longest hanging bridges in Bhutan (160m long!). It connects the Dzong to the nearby villages. The bridge sways a lot when you walk, and the view of the river below is both scary and beautiful. 🏰 PUNAKHA DZONG We explored the majestic Punakha Dzong, also known as the "Palace of Great Happiness." It sits right at the meeting point of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. It is hands down the most beautiful fortress I have seen in Bhutan. 🌃 ENDING THE DAY IN THIMPHU After exploring everything in Punakha, we continued our journey and finally reached Thimphu at 7 PM to rest for the night. What a long but amazing day!
