US Military Joins Ecuador to Combat Narco-Terrorism

On March 3, Ecuadorian and U.S. military forces launched operations against Designated Terrorist Organizations in Ecuador. The U.S. Southern Command called the mission a strong example of regional partnership in Latin America and the Caribbean to fight narco-terrorism. “We commend the men and women of the Ecuadorian armed forces for their unwavering commitment to this fight, demonstrating courage and resolve through continued actions against narco-terrorists in their country," Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Francis L. Donovan, commander of U.S. Southern Command, said in a post on X. Officials say the operations target groups that have long spread terror, violence, and corruption across the hemisphere. Southern Command also commended the Ecuadorian armed forces for their dedication and commitment to the fight.
