Restoration of an Incredible Antique Butcher's Axe (Tripas 2, Early 1900s from Spain)
In this detailed restoration video, I carefully restore a massive antique butcher's axe, known as the Tripas 2, originating from Spain in the early 1900s.
This is a remastered video version taken from one of my very old projects and improved to fit todays needs. I hope old viewers will like this new video edit anyway!
RESTORATION PROCESS:
I began by carefully disassembling the axe, separating the head from its handle. After thorough cleaning, I performed sandblasting to remove rust and debris. To maintain its authentic rugged aesthetic, I used a cleaning disc to enhance the raw steel texture, deliberately preserving the original wear marks and imperfections, essential to its vintage butcher's charm.
To highlight the distinctive TRIPAS brand, I digitally redesigned and refined the original logo. This involved detailed drawing and adjustments using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and CAD software, preparing the design for precise fiber laser engraving. The meticulous process of drawing, resizing, and laser programming demanded several hours, ensuring a flawless final engraving on the axe head.
I completed the restoration by fitting an aged handle I had stored in my workshop, engraving the TRIPAS name onto it for added authenticity.
I hope you enjoy watching this restoration as much as I enjoyed working on it! If you liked this video, please subscribe for more exciting restoration and repair projects.
