Does topwater color actually matter? In this test, Tony throws a light Slam Shady Moonwalker against a dark custom-painted Moonwalker during a short early morning topwater window. Same rod. Same reel. Same line. Same retrieve. But the fish didn’t respond the same way. The black Moonwalker got the biggest redfish and the most blowups, while the Slam Shady color still picked up a solid trout.
