Dunfermline, the ancient capital of Scotland, offers a captivating blend of deep royal history and beautifully preserved green spaces. Situated just north of the Firth of Forth in Fife, this historic town was granted city status in 2022, a nod to its immense cultural significance. Visitors are immediately drawn to its heritage quarter, where cobblestone streets wind past centuries-old architecture. The city serves as an ideal base for exploring the kingdom of Fife, combining the charm of a tight-knit community with the grandeur of Scotland's regal past. At the heart of any visit is Dunfermline Abbey and Palace, a site of profound historical importance that rivals any royal ground in the UK. The abbey is the final resting place of many of Scotland's greatest monarchs, including seven kings and seven queens. Most famously, the remains of King Robert the Bruce lie beneath the pulpit of the Abbey Church, marked by an ornate brass memorial.
