California's unemployment agency handed out cash cards during the pandemic to prisoners, to people sitting in jail, to felons. They got rich. Nobody was minding the store. This is not a one-off. This is Gavin Newsom's legacy as he finishes his final budget and tries to walk out the door. As the segment put it, he "has to gesticulate like some sort of meth addict to distract you from the reality of the situation." The fraud is real. The deflection is not working anymore.
