Why Honey Hunters Throw Part of the Hive Away?

This guy cuts into a beehive and discards a chunk onto the ground. In fact, a lot of experienced harvesters do this, but why would they waste honey that took so much work to make? Well, The reason is that a beehive has three main sections. The part they cut off is mostly old wax or pollen with very little honey, so it’s not worth keeping. The section that’s packed with honey is the part they cut out and take with them. So the bees can rebuild, they leave behind the section with the eggs and larvae.
