Layla the joey

The last of our joeys to come into care was Layla. She came out of the bushes one evening and climbed the leg of the gentleman who called her in to us. Mum was nowhere to be found despite searches for her. Layla is a quiet little koala who is finally getting to grips with suckling from a bottle, although she does make quite a mess of it at times, as, like Charlie, she forgets to swallow and milkies runs out of her mouth. Unlike Charlie, Layla enjoys having her chin wiped and is easy to clean up. In fact, I think she would lay there and let her chin be stroked with or without needing to be cleaned up. So now we have 9 joeys in care, Anna who is nearing release but needs some extra treatment which we will tell you about soon, Oaky and Gretchen who luckily are still with their mums in care. Then we have two creches River, Alexa and Piper in one and Truffle, Charlie and Layla in the second. Please keep your fingers crossed for these babies, they are not out of the woods yet as joeys have very delicate constitutions and their health can turn so very quickly.
