Neo's First Time Skiing!!! (SO CUTE!) We did our first winter ski trip as a family to Leavenworth, Washington or what some people may know as Icicle! It actually started our as a disaster when we fount out that our Airbnb was full of bugs! Fortunately, AirBnB Customer Service saved our family winter vacation and were able to get us a new location in Seattle. One of the main reasons we went to Washington state was because our Deaf son Neo wanted to go to The Summit at Snoqualmie which is a really nice area to go skiing with kids. This Ski Resort has kid friendly slopes and the ski instructors were so nice. Neo actually learned how to ski... kind of, but Abella became a master and she was even able to go down the big ski slope. We are so proud of Neo for facing adversity even after he kept falling or when his cochlear implants didn't want to fit in his helmet. But he figured it out and was able to go down the kiddie slopes without falling. Neo continues to show us that his profound hearing loss is just a part of who he is and does not define him, but rather transforms him into one of the coolest Deaf Kids who embraces his hearing loss. As hearing parents, a hearing loss diagnoses can be quite frightening in the beginning, but learning how to navigate through the unknown and allowing Neo to try new things is one of the greatest feelings a parent can feel.
