Description

We make a ping pong ball float in air using only a funnel and our own breath. One might assume that you could do this by breathing air in to move the ball upward using suction. In fact, it is much easier to get the ball to float by breathing out. By breathing out through the funnel, you create a high speed airflow above and around the ping pong ball. This creates a low pressure region above the ball. The higher pressure air below the ball then creates an upward force opposing gravity, which causes it to float. You can try to push the ping pong ball out of the funnel by breathing out when the funnel is above your head, but you will find that the ball is pressed back into the funnel for the same reason. This effect is Bernoulli's principle. 👍 LIKE and SUBSCRIBE for more fun science content! ➡️ Follow our channels at https://linktr.ee/tamuphysastr #physics #science #fyp #tamu #bernoullisprinciple #funny
