Description
We just attempted to make a giant pretzel using construction tools.
First, we used a concrete mixer to make the dough.
24 pounds of bread flour, fast rising yeast, brown sugar, salt, and then the wet ingredients oil and warm water.
The warm water helps activate the yeast.
Now here’s the tricky part- you gotta beat this dough like it owes you money.
Then I covered it in plastic wrap and let it sit for an hour.
We needed to stretch this dough out 20 feet long, so I screwed down some clean plywood on my equipment trailer.
To make a pretzel you cross the ends then you twist.
Next, I sprayed the pretzel with baking soda water before brushing it with an egg wash.
Finally, I hit it with a little bit of salt.
For a pretzel this size we had to build an oven.
We used leftover brick and scrap metal.
About one hour later it was done.
Only there was one big problem, no cheese dip.
Don’t worry, we made a whole Ventrac bucket full.
The dough in the pretzel turned out perfect.
Let us know what should we cook next on the jobsite? @hausplans
