Description
The Redback Spiders are still being lured into my spider lures. Now inot Autumn / Fall hopefully the peak spider season is over. As always I show the style of web Radback Spiders make. It's important to understand because the spiders can be very reclusive. Once you understand the webs it becomes much easier to find the spiders. The growing Redback spider from the previous video is fed to a ant colony. In very little time the ants pull apart the spider. During this video I revisit the issue of Redback spiders in Japan.
Redback spiders, venomous Australian spiders, have become established in Japan since their discovery in 1995, spreading to 45 of 47 prefectures and posing a potential threat, particularly to small children. It's interesting to read how the spiders have spread throughout the country and are surviving in freezing conditions. Redback spiders can survive the harsh Japanese winters by nesting near heating systems, such as under heated toilets and Laundry areas. In 2020, over 100 redback spiders were found and killed at a business facility in Moji Ward, Kitakyushu. From my understanding Japan still has no plans on eradicating this dangerous Australian spider.
Remember the Sydney Funnel Web and Australian Redback Spider are two of the most dangerous spiders in the world. And both are living at my place.
