Beloved Senior Pup DRAGGED Behind Car After Defending His Home In Attempted Robber... [UPDATE BELOW]

As many of you know, Loki was seriously injured after trying to protect his family’s equipment from a burglar. This sweet boy’s loyalty and courage nearly cost him his life, but through it all, he continues to fight so hard every single day. The veterinary team monitored Loki closely overnight on a fentanyl CRI to help manage his pain, and thankfully he has continued making progress each day. While he was initially very uncomfortable and unstable trying to move around, he is now standing and walking on his own much better. His incision site is looking good overall, with expected bruising from such a major surgery, and the doctors are pleased with how everything is healing so far. Loki is eating and drinking well, taking his medications like a champ, and even enjoying wet food with his oral medications hidden inside. His doctors have also started additional antibiotics and wound care treatments to help prevent infection while his large surgical wound continues healing. Emotionally, this has been extremely difficult on him. Loki has never been away from his mom or his dog siblings before, and much of his crying and vocalizing appears to be anxiety and sadness from being alone in the hospital. Thankfully, once staff members sit with him or his calming medications begin working, he settles down and rests more comfortably. The good news is that his pain is finally becoming much better controlled, and the veterinary team feels hopeful that Loki may be able to come home tomorrow if everything continues going well overnight. 🩷 Please continue keeping our sweet boy in your prayers as he begins adjusting to life as a tripod. He has already shown us just how resilient and courageous he truly is, and we cannot wait to watch him continue healing surrounded by the family he loves so much.
