She is a proud Māori athlete who started out carving up the boys at school before being stopped from playing with them. She went on to play provincial rugby for Manawatū, Counties Manukau, and Taranaki. She also represented Queensland in rugby league and played a big part in establishing the Burleigh Bears whilst playing for them over many years. Alongside representing NZ Māori and supporting the Taranaki Whānui Māori Rugby League Tournament over many years, she now coaches the Tukapa Women’s team. Nau mai haere mai Aleasha Brider
