Westerplatte - WWII's Forgotten First Battle

On 1 September 1939, the conflict that would come to be called World War II erupted in the city state of Danzig. Those first shots were fired by a WWI German battleship. What followed is called the Battle of Westerplatte, a heroic story of Polish resistance to the German invaders.
