Description
A lot of people think 4WD Low magically gives you more traction or forces all four wheels to spin. It doesnât. 4WD Low is simply a lower gear ratio in the transfer case, which multiplies torque and gives you better control â but it does not lock your axles or change what your differentials are doing.
With open differentials, just like 4WD High, power still follows the path of least resistance. That means youâre typically only getting drive to one front wheel and one rear wheel, unless you have limited slips or locking differentials.
4WD Low helps you use the traction you already have, but it doesnât create traction on its own. Lockers do that â not 4WD Low.
