Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala On Where Hope Lies

Appointed in 2021, and reappointed for a second term in 2025, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is the first woman and first African to serve as Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Speaking at the TIME100 Davos Dinner, Okonjo-Iweala noted that 2026 is a turbulent time for global trade. “The multilateral trading system has been bashed.
