Description
On March 7, 2026, UNICEF Health Specialist Rima Shaya reports from inside a school in Beirut being used as a shelter for families forced out of their homes by escalating hostilities in Lebanon.
With UNICEF's support, Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health has been able to respond to the needs of children and families staying in the shelter, providing basic health services including child vaccinations, follow-up care for pregnant women and provision of essential medicines.
The shelter is one of 37 across Lebanon supported by UNICEF. Since the beginning of the crisis, UNICEF has been on the ground, supporting the needs of displaced families.
