But he soon realizes that he cannot totally breakout from his legacy. When his sister Belinda is raped and his parents and brother are massacred, he is forced to take up arms to avenge their deaths. He serves his jail sentence and once again decides on a peaceful life with his bride-to-be Maita Soriano. But the new syndicate head (Paquito Diaz) would have none of it. He believes that if Gabriel will not be his friend then he is to be considered an enemy. An ambush meant for Gabriel goes awry and Maita ends up dead instead.
