I traveled to South Carolina to search for one of the most iconic fossils on Earth… a real Megalodon tooth. Joining the team at Palmetto Fossil Excursions, I spent two days digging through ancient seabed sediments in Summerville, South Carolina, a place often referred to as the Megalodon Tooth Capital of the World. Millions of years ago, this entire area was covered by a warm, shallow ocean filled with giant sharks, whales, sea turtles, and countless other marine animals. Armed with a shovel, screen, and a lot of optimism, I set out to see if I could uncover a piece of prehistoric history for myself. Would I actually find one?
