Description
Disclaimers:
1. East Midlands Trains doesn’t exist, but the Anne programme I use dates from around that period.
2. Long Eaton and East Midlands Parkway don’t exist in files and so the closest I could get for the respected stations are Nuneaton and East Midlands Airport.
3. The Mablethorpe and Louth routes were once part of the East Lincolnshire Railway which closed in 1970, though there’s a group on Facebook calling for it to be brought back which is half of the purpose for this video.
4. ATOS Anne is property of Worldline, while the voice meant to replicate Anne on the Mablethorpe and Louth routes is property of yours truly (me).
5. Don’t ask why there’s static noises every now and then cus I have no idea myself, my only guess is broken files…
Skegness currently sees an hourly service to Nottingham with at least half a dozen making additional stops between Skegness and Allington Junction, I believe Skegness can and should have more services, and so this video demonstrates what I’d like to see in the future.
My suggestions:
- Skegness to Lincoln/Crewe
- Skegness to Derby via Allington Jn and Nottingham
- Reopening the East Lincolnshire Line so that services to Mablethorpe and Louth via Firsby and Willoughby could commence
- Skegness to Nottingham running express to Bottesford stopping only at Wainfleet, Boston, Heckington and Sleaford before calling all stations after Bottesford
- Skegness to Grantham local stopper stopping all stations
- 2 direct trains to London St Pancras a day, one at 8:05am and 4:05pm
All 6 platforms can be used to accommodate this, currently only Platform 4 sees regular use under the current timetable.
Havenhouse, Thorpe Culvert and Elton & Orston should be made request stops meaning passengers need to alert the conductor to signal their wish to alight at these stations, I believe they meet the criteria for a request stop especially Havenhouse which is located in the middle of nowhere.
By doing this Skegness will become the real “Blackpool of the East Coast”.
