VIDEO: Planners show vision of reimagined Quaker Square in Akron

Video courtesy of Kyle Craven and WRT Akron's iconic Quaker Square may be getting a dramatic makeover. Renderings shared with 3News show plans to turn the former grain silos into a "modern mixed-use destination, while preserving its historic character and architectural identity." That vision includes adding glass features, open walkways, and new gathering spaces. Plans call for the mixed-use development to feature the following: -- A 108-room hotel -- Apartments with a total of 75 units -- A rooftop restaurant with open-air patio space overlooking downtown Akron -- A full renovation of the Quaker Square event center, which planners say would enhance "its functionality for weddings, corporate events, conferences, and large-scale occasions" -- New office and retail space -- New restaurants and community spaces at the ground level to increase foot traffic and engagement At 3News, we’re here to share your voice and tell your story.
